Wisconsin’s highest peak and the 39th highest US state summit, 1,951-foot Timms Hill is located in Wisconsin’s north-central area. With only 434 feet of prominence, Timms Hill is not the most prominent peak in Wisconsin. This highpoint is a near drive up, and a short stroll will take you to the highest ground.

To get to Timms Hill by car, go to Tomahawk, WI, which is 40 mies North of Wausau, WI. Measure from the bridge that crosses the Wisconsin River on the east side of Tomahawk, ang go 24.4 mileas west on State Highway 86. Turn south (left) on County Road C, that is signed for Timms Hill County Park, and follow the signs to Timms Hill County Park. After 0.9 mile, take the left branch at a stop sign, and follow Rustic Road 62 for another 0.3 mile to the park entrance. Turn left at the entrance sign, and follow a narrow road 0.6 mile past Bass Lake and reach the trailhead’s designated parking area.

From the parking lot, hike up the hill for a short distance to the lookout towers. The highest natural ground is under the older metal tower. Be sure to climb the stairs up the larger wooden tower to enjoy the views.
